As I mentioned earlier, things they be a changin’.

Built a new wall that faces the house. Not so much classic green as before. Going to be using that clear Tuftex poly. Mmmm, Fresh stain. Morgan hooked me up with some free salvaged windows. (Thanks, Buddy!) Yeah, that sun may not exactly be in the perfect spot but it will do for now.

Fresh paint on the new windows.

Newness on Aunt Mae’s the door, too!

I rigged up a new place to hang Aunt Mae’s Staghorn. It weighs somewhere around 60lbs so it needed to be a little sturdy. The heavy chains are probably overkill but I had them lying around.

Hillbilly Jungle Machine gets some sprucing up.

Now that its warming up enough to bring the porch plants outside, we are in the middle of a Hillbilly Jungle Machine renovation. I got Wyatt to tear down the north wall of classic green fiberglass. No one in the family really liked the green. Something about it being an eye sore. Whatever, I kind of like that retro look. We are replacing that wall with salvaged tin roofing panels, three windows and some of that more appealing corrogated clear poly sheeting. There will be a shelf under the windows to put pots and such. Photos to come.

New Pullets

Daddy called me Saturday to let me know Tractor Supply Co. finally had baby chicks ready to sell. Hot dog! I called to find out what kinds they had. They said, “We have red pullets.” I guess they didn’t know what breeds they had. We drove over on Tuesday and purchased 15 new girls. 5 Rhode Island Reds, 5 Red Sex Links and 5 Golden Comets. They are all very healthy and extremely cute.

Bitchy baby’s momma

Jay and Paw Paw got a new little bull calf on Sunday morning. Right after they helped out with the delivery, the new mom just got up and ran off. What a bitch. We showed up after Church to help round her up. We put them both in a small catch pen to convince her to accept him. We don’t know how that is going right now. She’s still bitchy.

Aunt Mae gave me all these plants and the materials to build the greenhouse. I really appreciate it! I have had very little luck identifying most of them. All I really know is they need to stay above 40 degrees.

Winter Sucks.

Winter just makes everything look bleak and dead. Everything retreats into the ground waiting for warmer days. I retreat into the house trying to ignore my ugly yard. Sucks.
